History Department:
Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology in Osijek dates back to 1969, is engaged in the treatment of malignant disease of solid tumors (non hematological diseases). The department is organized according to the incidence of malignant diseases by region, and on it is planned and implemented by radiation therapy, administered chemotherapy and / or hormonal therapy or combined chemo-radiotherapy approach. Treatment is carried out in the hospital as well as outpatients, and in the daily work we do control previously treated patients, and while we collaborate with specialists in other fields.
At the department for twelve physicians (six specialist radiotherapy and oncology, one specialist radiologist and one specialist in internal medicine). Currently at the Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology specialization performed four doctors. At the department six years there is supportive psychiatric service run by Dr. Sanda Anton. Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology are three grad. physicists (one assistant professor) and ten medical radiology engineers. Senior nurses has nine and thirty-three nurses with secondary education. The administration employs nine people and to our department for eleven maid along with other support staff. All of our specialists are members of professional teams with specialist pathology, radiology, cytology, surgery and gynecology within the team for breast, gynecological tumors team and the team for tumors of the genitourinary tract. Expert meetings within which presents particular cases and create a multidisciplinary treatment plans are held once a week. In collaboration with international companies for the monitoring and testing of drugs at our Department is conducting clinical research within international multicenter randomized trials of new medicines. Day hospital treatment allows patients and administering therapy so that patients on what is done inspection, search or the treatment administered staying in your own home surrounded by his family, and psychosocial effects such as an important supportive measure in the treatment of cancer patients should not be ignored. At the department we have a device for planning radiation (simulator), and apparatus for carrying out radiotherapy (linear accelerator and cobalt device). The preparation room for the new CT simulator, 3D linear accelerator and brachytherapy.
